Development of the portable thyroid dose monitoring system

Nishino, Sho; Yoshitomi, Hiroshi; Tanimura, Yoshihiko; Takahashi, Masa

no journal, ,

In a situation of a severe nuclear accident, radioiodine monitoring in thyroid should be performed for a large number of residents and emergency workers. The portable thyroid monitoring system which can be used in a high dose rate background condition has been developed in JAEA. In this presentation, the detailed design of the thyroid monitor, results of performance test using the prototype model, and a calibration method of the monitor will be described.

Evaluation of clearance level for asbestos wastes

Shimada, Taro

no journal, ,

We investigated the practices of treatment and disposal of asbestos wastes, which is one of the specially controlled industrial wastes. Based on the results, we constructed the exposure scenario after clearance of asbestos wastes. We calculated the concentrations corresponding to 10 $$mu$$Sv/y to the public for 33 radionuclides and the values were rounded to logarithm. As a result, the rounded concetrations for 33 radionuclides were equal to or less than the current clearance level for metal and concrete.
